Black Friday, Here I Come!

In lieu of my beloved obsession for finding shopping deals, I decided to share some Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping tips, both in-store and online. Overall this requires some research, but in the end it’s worth saving money and purchasing great products!

Finding coupons and deals is easier than you think.
Purchase the paper ads and get price-matching offers.

In addition to the in-store coupons, holiday price matching can be made with competitor printed ads. Target has info online regarding holiday price matching information.

Sign up for online newsletters.

Special online and printable coupons can be sent via email and not included within the printed ad. Herberger’s and Gap cardholders may obtain special coupons for special events like this.

Download a mobile app or store-branded mobile apps.

RetailMeNot.com, a coupon code site, recently updated their mobile app for the holidays to include Geofencing capability, which sends users notifications for deals at stores they’re near at the mall. The app will be compatible with stores in about 500 malls by Black Friday.

BFAds.net (Black Friday Ads), is a online resource for breaking Black Friday news and deals. This app gives shoppers an edge on holiday deals by providing notices of leaked ads, as well as price comparisons, a handy universal-shopping-list feature and deal sharing. Users can buy items directly from their mobile device as soon as prices go in effect, and avoid out-of-stock disappointments.

Stores are rolling out special Black Friday services and promotions through store-branded mobile apps. Walmart is offering the chance to buy some doorbusters online on Thanksgiving before the store opens, exclusively to customers who download the store’s mobile app,  join the e-mail list or “like” the company on Facebook.

Check out mobile-specific deals or promotions.

Target and L.L. Bean are two retailers offering mobile deals for the holidays. L.L. Bean will run a new promotion on its mobile site every day for the 16 days leading up to Christmas.

Target has identified a list of top 20 holiday toys and are on display in stores. Each has a corresponding QR code that shoppers can scan to purchase a toy directly from their phones and have it shipped for free wherever they want.

Research Prices and Products ahead of time.

Researching online is a great way to compare prices and product quality. Amazon.com is just the place for that, with comparable prices, awesome product reviews and wonderful mobile apps. Check out amazon price check app, which compares prices instantly with Amazon.com and its merchants while on-the-go.

TheFind.com is another shopping search engine for tracking best prices on products. With its mobile apps, you can check prices of items sold online and in stores, scan bar-codes for detailed product information, gets maps to stores, save product lists, and set price watches so you won’t miss deals.

Plan for your shopping trip by checking out store info.

Store hours are a necessity to know where and when to find the bargains. I’ve found a wonderful article from, SavvySugar.com, “Plan Your Sale Hit List With These Black Friday Store Openings“, check out their list of major retailers and store opening times.

Walmart, Macy’s and Target and other stores have integrated interactive store maps into their mobile apps, so users can click a Black Friday special and get directions to its location in the specific store they’re in. The Macy’s app will also notify shoppers of previously unadvertised deals on Black Friday, the store said.

Overall I hope I’ve shared enough information to help you become a savvier holiday shopper. I’ll be hitting up the stores Black Friday as well. Hope to see you there! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
